Based in the Baltimore-DC region, Ian Charles is a multi-hyphenate performer. He has over 30 years of singing experience--cabaret, a capella, chamber choir, musical theatre, and more. After receiving his MFA in Shakespeare and Performance from Mary Baldwin University, he worked with the acclaimed American Shakespeare Center to round out his classical training. His artistic pedigree also includes instrumental skill, having played the guitar and clarinet for a number of years.

Ian has worked as a cabaret and production vocalist aboard multiple cruise ships, specifically with Norwegian's smaller, luxury Oceania ships. These contracts have taken him to six out of seven continents. His cruise directors on this ships have booked him multiple times to perform his unique solo cabaret show "Dearest Broadway," a tribute to his favorite shows. Beyond musical theatre, however, Ian also has experience with Motown, Jazz, Classic Rock, and other genres.​

When not performing onstage with theaters or cruise ships, Ian works freelance with medical schools as a simulation actor. Typically, these simulations involve portraying a patient with a specific complaint, conducting the patient encounter, and finally breaking character to give feedback to the learner; all in an effort to sharpen their interpersonal skills. He has helped educate medical, pharmacy, EMT, PA, nursing, and nurse practitioner students.
